Cure of panic disorder with agoraphobia
Agoraphobia is the fear of crowd. People who suffer from Agoraphobia are afraid of too much crowded spaces in general. Some people think that agoraphobia is due to closed spaces. This is totally wrong. Agoraphobia is not the fear of closed or open spaces but of crowd in general.
Therapists during the 1970s used to use this technique called the Implosion Theory to Treat Panic Attacks with agoraphobia. The idea with which a patient’s problem was strived to be erased was called as Flooding. It was assumed that if a person is kept in an environment which he fears, he is able to overcome the fear for he is able to realize that the fear is nothing but something just in the mind. However, Implosion theory turned out to be a big flop as it could not understand the very basic of this disorder. Implosion theory classified agoraphobia as fear of places and not that of crowd. This is where the implosion theory proved to be a fail.
Another good cure of Panic Disorder With Agoraphobia is CBT or the cognitive behavior therapy. The CBT has proved to be very useful over the years and has been successful in curing many patients of Panic disorder with agoraphobia. The main reason behind its effectiveness is the fact that it’s targets the main reason behind the disorder, that is your thoughts.
